Willie Welton Blanchett received his reward in Heaven on January 30, 2021. Mr. Blanchett had recently turned 102 years of age. He was born on January 16, 1919 in Winfield, Texas to James and Ida Blanchett. W.W. grew up in Winnsboro and been a resident of Irving since 1967. Mr. Blanchett served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Old Tyme Foods in 1981. He loved playing "42" and was known as "Papa" to his grandkids and great-grandkids. W.W. married Ruby Brooks on December 19, 1947 and the two enjoyed 73 years of marriage until his passing. Mr. Blanchett was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Brenda Blanchett; four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by wife Ruby Blanchett; son Charles Blanchett (Doloris); daughter Barbara Blanchett; 2 grandchildren, Shanna Askew (Trey), Christopher Blanchett (Sabrina); 5 great-grandchildren; sister Valerie Stevens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 4 at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro. The funeral will begin at 1:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Providence Cemetery in Franklin County.
