Obituary for Sofie W Frederick (Wowk)

Heaven opened the gates for our sweet Momma January 29, 2022. One of five children, Sofie Frederick was born April 27, 1925, in Sanok, Poland, to Joseph and Catherine Wowk. Being a devout Catholic, she would tell you that her faith in God is what helped her survive the concentration camp during the German Holocaust and make her the strong, independent compassionate person that we knew her as. She later met and married John Frederick on July 13, 1946 in Gemunden, Germany. After moving to the United States, she studied hard to become a U.S. citizen, she never took that or her freedom for granted. Mrs. Frederick worked as a seamstress and in the school cafeterias in Arlington and Winnsboro while raising six children. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, her husband John, and two daughters Lynda and Kathy. Mrs. Frederick is survived by sons; Ronnie of Ft. Worth, Johnny (Vi), Jimmy (Laura) of Winnsboro, Eddie (Nancy) of Quitman; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was a beloved member of St. Ann's Catholic Church of Winnsboro. A visitation will be held Monday, January 31, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Graveside service 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 2nd at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas. Monsignor Leon Duesman presiding.
