In loving memory of our grandmother, Shirley Walker, who passed away on October 30, 2022. She was the best friend and wife of 61 years to Bob Walker, a loving mother to Twyla, Robert, and Tonja, a grandmother to the eight of us: Mikael (Ashley), Ben, Jake, Jordan (Mark), Taylor, Baylee, Hannah, and Brayden, and a great-grandmother to our eight babies: Jaxon, Ryan, Reece, Alaina, Lorelai, Isabelle, Levi, and Marshall. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Our grandmother was a joyful, caring woman who always put the needs of her family before herself. She was a strong woman, who faced each of life’s challenges with dignity. Shirley was a confidant and source of wisdom, an inspiration that will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Growing up, our grandmother was always there for us. A woman thoroughly in love with Jesus, her faith is the most precious legacy she leaves to her family. The songs she sang to her children and grandchildren will echo in our hearts and minds. She modeled the importance of family, hard work, fun, and integrity, along with sharing her love for Rangers baseball, Elvis, and classic musicals.
After many years of living with sickness, her family is overjoyed that today Shirley has been healed and reunited with her family in Heaven. She is survived by her husband, Bob, her brother, Eddie, her children, Robert Walker and wife Molly and Tonja Woodleif and husband Kenny, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, November 5 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Visitation will be on Friday evening, between 6 and 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to in her honor.
Grandma, thank you for the legacy of faith you leave behind. You will always be missed and never forgotten. Until we meet again, enjoy Heaven.
