Obituary for Shirley S. Robinson

Surrounded by family, Mrs. Shirley Sue Morrison Robinson, 88, of Tyler, passed away on February 21st. She was born January 22, 1935 to Ollie Fleetwood Morrison and Vera Estelle Brown Morrison in Turnertown, Texas. On February 23, 1952, she married the love of her life, Bobbie “Bob” Euel Robinson of Coke, Texas. They had three adored children. Shirley’s life was centered around her church and her family. She cherished her grandchildren and delighted in her great grandchildren, who knew her as Gigi. She believed in the miraculous power of prayer and was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ.
For many years they owned a Texaco full-service station in Mesquite, Texas. Later, moving back home to Coke, they purchased the Pleasant Grove General Store where in the deli Shirley prepared the best sandwiches and cooked a daily special that folks came from miles away to enjoy—beef stew, chicken and dumplings, pinto beans and ham, chicken spaghetti, and many other favorites. Always, with cornbread and homemade desserts. She was a great cook and loved to entertain for her family, friends, church and community. She also loved to travel. She and Bob toured the country in their RV and were great campers, sharing their love for the outdoors and fishing with their grandchildren. Shirley loved to cruise and always felt like royalty aboard a ship. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church Winnsboro. Many of her greatest joys were holding bake sales to raise money for her Senior Sunday School class to travel to Baptist Conferences. Celebration, prayer and laughter filled those buses.
Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 52 years, her son Robert Wayne Robinson, her brother Thomas William Morrison and sister Bonnie Jo Morrison Mothershed. She is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Susan Kay Robinson Shockey, husband, Richard; and her son Johnny Ray Robinson, wife Diane; six grandchildren, Michael Heath Shockey and wife Michelle, Clint Euel Shockey, Sandy Gail Robinson Baxter and husband Bear, Chad Wayne Robinson, Brooke Ashley Robinson Bakken and husband Mason, and Blake Matthew Robinson; and seven great-grandchildren, Jack and Kate Baxter, Owen, Olivia, Corbin and Cooper Shockey, and Molly Bakken. She is also survived by a brother Marvin Morrison; sister-in-law Joyce Morrison; brother-in-law Glen Robinson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be James Bruce, Bob Bruce, Charles Busby, Kevin Gilbreath, David Morrison, Mack Jordon and Troy Robinson. Honorary pallbearer will be Stuart Bruce.

Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 – 11:00 on Saturday, February 25th at Beaty Funeral Home, 816 W Broadway Street, Winnsboro, Texas 75494.
