Obituary for Geneva "Frenchie" Richards

Services for Sarrah Geneva "Frenchie" Richards age 97, of Saltillo, Texas will be held at Cypress Baptist Church in Winnsboro on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Garry Gage and Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cypress Cemetery. An open viewing will be on Sunday, October 11th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro. She was born on May 15, 1923 in the Coke community to O.W. French and Myrtie Lou McFarlin French. She was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Richards, parents Mr. and Mrs. O.W. French, step-mother Evelyn Horan French, brothers Omer, Jerry and Jack French, sisters Mary Basham, Pauline Stroud, Doris Armstrong, step-sister Loretta Freeman, step-brother Billy Bob Freeman and his wife Rita Nell Freeman. Survivors include sister Brenda McCoy and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Richards was a member of Cypress Baptist Church, the Eastern Star Saltillo Chapter 173, Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW no. 8911 Ft. Worth, a retired RN and a barber. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Fort Worth, Texas in 1948 and served at St. Joseph's Hospital for 40 years before retiring. She served an additional 3 years at Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro.
