Obituary for Ron Taylor

RONALD TAYLOR
Ron was born in Brady , Texas on Feb. 6, 1935 and left this world to be with his Savior on Aug. 23, 2007. He graduated from Brady High School, attended TCU on a track and field scholarship where he excelled in track and won the nickname "Little Thorpe". Ron was a Staff Sgt. in the Air Force at Beal Air Force Base in California. He married the love of his life, Gwen Palmer in 1977.

Ron was Director of Suburban Newspapers for the Dallas Morning News and in 1966 became Editor and Publisher of The Bowie News in Bowie, TX. Later he became the Vice President of Irving, Texas Chamber of Commerce.

In 2001, Ron and Gwen moved to Holly Lake Ranch in east Texas, where Ron enjoyed retirement and golfing.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Gwen, son Eric Palmer and wife Deborah, and daughters Rhonda Griswold and husband Danny of Bowie and Carmele Porter and husband Michael of Arlington. He also has a brother, Don Taylor and his wife Joy of Brady, Texas, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday the 26th at First United Methodist Church in Hawkins, Tx. Burial Services will be Monday at 2:00pm, DFW National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
