Robert Wayne "Sonny" Phillips, known as the Hog Man for his Hog Hunting abilities, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the age of 78 years. A lifetime resident of the area, Robert was born on August 11, 1942 to Isaac Thomas Phillips and Evleaner Culpepper Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a self employed carpenter for many years and a man who enjoyed the peace of nature while hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Evleaner Phillips; wife Dorothy May Phillips; son Robert Phillips, Jr.; daughter Monita May Phillips; grandchildren; Matthew, April and Lillian; brothers I.J. Phillips and Billy Phillips; sisters Rosie Ellison, Myrtle Bowen, Pearl Busby, Mary Gatewood, Ruby Moss and Lilly Overstreet. Robert is survived by his son Kenneth Phillips and fiance Melissa Clewis; son Jason Phillips; daughter Marie Carlson; daughter D'Lena Overstreet and husband Bobby; grandchildren Heather Yancey, Ryan Phillips, Jacob Carlson, Taylor Blackwood, Dylan Paro, Matthew Phillips, Whitney Phillips, Echo Phillips, Shayla Overstreet, Dany Overstreet, Micah Overstreet, Sammy Clewis and Hannah Clewis and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15th at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16th in the chapel of Beaty Funeral Home with Rev. Perry Shirley officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.
