Obituary for Robert Glynn Bright

A memorial service for Robert Glynn (Bob) Bright will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Lake Highlands Baptist Church, 1500 College Street, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482, with Bro. Perry Johnson leading the service. Bob passed away December 27, 2022, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs
Bob was born on June 26, 1941, in Winnsboro, Texas to Ivon Dacus Cotten and Glynn Bright. He married Margie Doyle on February 20, 1965.

Bob spent his early years as a truck driver, working in the oilfield, Sandlin Motors as a mechanic and eventually opened his own garage and wrecker service where he spent his last 20 or so years pointing his crooked finger guiding and teaching others his trade. He also spent some time in the dairy business with his brothers Bill and Paul. He was an avid quail and pheasant hunter and loved to spend time with his friends. He also enjoyed raising quail and pheasants. Bob was a huge supporter of the Como-Pickton Eagles and for many years he was nicknamed the bubblegum man by the Eagle Baseball team. He was a faithful member of The First Baptist Church Pickton for many years.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margie; his daughter Jayda and husband Waylon Bell; Son in Law, Rodney Taylor; daughter, Bobbi Linville, and husband Keith; Grandchildren, Brittany Shaeffer, Demi Willis, Brianna Bell, Daylon Bell, Raynie Hooten, Laynie Hooten, Josh Taylor, Kellie Taylor, and Taylor, Tyler and Trevor Linville, Stepbrothers, Derwood Holloway and Billy Cotten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill and Paul Bright, daughters, Tara Kaye Taylor, and Deana Gayle Hooten.
