Obituary for Richard Glenn Beavers

Richard Glenn Beavers, 89, of Winnsboro passed from this life to eternal life with Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Dick was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro. Dick was born on September 12, 1933 in Itasca, Texas. He graduated Baylor University in 1956 and joined the U.S. Army in 1958. Upon completion of his service to his country, Dick returned to his family farming business until 1961. He met and married the love of his life, his wife Carolyn, in 1962. After leaving the family farm, Dick pursued a successful career in the commercial insurance industry for 30 years. He retired in 1992 and focused on friends, family, and the things in life that made him happy. Dick loved all things nature and outdoors – he enjoyed hunting, fishing, birding, gardening, landscaping, and he loved working to keep a beautiful yard. He found genuine joy in instilling that same love of God’s gifts in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved his Baylor Bears, especially the Lady Bear basketball team, and loved watching his Dallas Cowboys. Richard is survived by his wife of 60+ years, Carolyn; son Daryl Beavers and his wife Debra of Tomball, Texas; daughter Carol Groves and her husband Michael of Winnsboro, Texas; grandchildren Collin Mayfield and his wife Hope, Ashley Landry and her husband Andre, and Allison Beavers; and great grandchildren Lilly Mayfield, Reveille Mayfield, Phoebe Mayfield, and Colton Landry. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bryan and Jerry; his sister Christine Deeley; and his parents, and is survived by brother Gene Beavers and sister Glenda Pelham.
