Mr. Paul Donald Gates, age 93 of Malakoff, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, February 13, 2023. He was born on November 8, 1929 in Trinity, Texas to the late Oscar Gates and Lucinda Loftin Gates
Mr. Gates served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII, was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church in Mineola, a Master Mason and founding member of the Wood County Marine Corp League.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith Gates in 2020 and by five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his daughters; Sharolyn Pumphrey and husband, Bill of Evant, Linda James and husband, Roger of Malakoff, and Sandra Nevil and husband, Dwight of Malakoff; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home 5320 S. State Hwy. 37 Mineola, TX. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm with Bro. Jerry Parker conducting. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Gardens in Mineola, with Paul Ward, Steven Ward, Aaron Patterson, Chris Patterson, Jonathan Patterson, and Robert Bell serving as pallbearers.
