I have known Monnie Earl since Charlotte and I married in 1972. I really got to know him well in 1999 when we had bought a farm and were planning to sell some timber off it. I did not know much about the timber business but soon found there were crooks in this business like all others. After receiving a couple of bids---one which was insulting, Monnie came down one cold winter morning and went over the 70 acres. He gave me an estimate price on the larger pine trees which was about double the previous offers. We shook hands on the deal. He and his crew took about six weeks to cut the trees. Linda had a payment check ready every Monday. He actually paid several thousand more than his estimate. He also piled the tops where I could easily burn them and really took care of our place. I found out then the Weems were not only hard working people but were also honest and conscientious with their work. I have great respect for them.

I look forward to seeing Monnie Earl again someday soon as we walk the streets of gold together. Linda, our prayers and the prayers of our church family are with you during this trying time. "May our Lord fill your vacancy with His tender love and mercy," is our sincere prayer.
