Mary devoted her life to serving others through teaching. She spent several years working at the Department of Education in Austin. She taught all levels of students including special education and college, but she found her passion teaching Kindergarten in Hawkins where she taught until she retired. She married her husband, Bill in 1949. They were married for 57 years. Although she didn't swim, she taught many friends how to water ski. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing 42 and Skipbo, camping, and RVing in all of the United States and parts of Canada. She fulfilled a life long dream of going to Alaska in 2016. She became a member of Shooks Chapel in 1938. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Hawkins Study Club, Retired Teachers, Eastern Stars, and the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro, TX joining in 1966.
