Obituary for Marvin James Clanton

Marvin James Clanton passed away peacefully with his devoted wife, Betty Sue, and family by his side on Monday, June 22, 2020, in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Marvin was born in Dallas, Texas on August 3, 1930 to Raymond and Leila Mae Clanton. He married Betty Sue Johnson in Winnsboro, Texas, in 1952. Marvin and Betty lived in Austin, Dallas, Arlington, Richardson and Ft. Worth, Texas. God blessed them with four wonderful children: Steven, David, Kathy and Brian. Marvin received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Arlington College and a Master of Arts from University of Texas-Arlington. He worked for Ling Temco Vought Aircraft and Texas Instruments. After retiring, he taught math at Richland Community College.

Marvin loved the Lord and God's Word and was a member of Wedgwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. The Lord blessed Marvin with a delightful sense of humor, providing family and friends with unforgettable stories--embellished though they were.

Marvin was preceded in death by his sisters, Wanda Hodges and Dorothy Gentry. He is survived by his dear wife of 68 years, Betty Sue Johnson Clanton; children, Steven and fiance' Gloria Gross, David and wife, Becky Clanton, Kathy Webb and Brian Clanton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Marvin's name to Harmony Cemetery, PO Box 5, Pickton, TX 75471.
