Mark David Gillis, age 59 of Winnsboro, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. He was born on November 21, 1960, in Garland, Texas to the late Roddy Gillis and Kay Spivey Gillis. Mark was a graduate of North Garland High School Class of 1979. He was a maintenance supervisor for the family owned business R & K Camping Center, having started when he was 14 years old and putting in 40 years with the business. He was a member of the Trucks Unlimited Club in Garland. Mark loved watching and attending NASCAR races, playing in the outdoors whether hunting, fishing or camping, cooling off with a Cold Beer or talking away with family and friends while having his tobacco in his mouth. Mr. Gillis was preceded in death by parents, Roddy Gillis and Kay Spivey Gillis. He is survived by daughter, Kay Geffers; son, Justin Gillis; sister, Paula Gillis-Lawrence and her husband David; sister, Cheryl Diane Gillis; nephew, Barry Lawrence; niece, Morgan LeClair; 5 grandchildren, Jadin, Baelin, Kyler, Jaylin and Ethan; lastly his beloved four legged companion of 15 years Ally. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494. Funeral Services will follow the visitation, starting at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Nub Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Winnsboro, Texas.
