Obituary for Margaret "Toni" Owen (Hayes)

Mrs. Margaret Hayes "Toni" Owen, also known as "Sweet Pea", age 80 of Scroggins, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Tyler from Covid and heart complications.

Toni was born on December 1, 1941 in Bryans Mill, Texas to the late Walter Casper Hayes and Odeal Brock Hayes.

Toni was a loving wife of 60 years, mother, and Mimi. She was the co-owner of The Decal Mart, Inc. with her husband, and actively worked there since it opened in 1964. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she served as church treasurer for many years, as well as teaching the children, being a deaconess, and holding other church offices through the years. She was a Master Gardener in both Ector and Franklin County, and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Iris and Daylily Association. She was a long-time member of The American Businesswoman's Association. She was a past president of the women's chapter of the Optimist Club in Odessa. She was an accomplished artist and loved doing arts and crafts as well as her gardening. She appreciated all of the fine arts. Her family is musically talented and she always called herself the musical appreciation. She loved Elvis and enjoyed classical and instrumental music, hymns, and country and gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Walter Douglas Hayes and Robert Hayes, and her sister, Elaine Schuler.

She is survived by her husband, Eddie Owen of Scroggins; their daughter Kimberlie Currier and husband Joe of Scroggins; their son Jason Owen of Winnsboro; six grandchildren, Savannah, Meade, Jerod, Connor, Colin, and Joy; and by two great grandsons, Gabriel and Jacoby.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494 at 2:00 pm, Bro. Joseph Currier conducting. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Scroggins.
