Obituary for Lou Hooks Wagner

Lou Hooks Wagner was born in Dallas, TX on October 6, 1938, to the late Robert Thomas Hooks, Jr. and Kathleen Russell Hooks. She went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Wagner, son; Robert Wagner and wife Rena of Winnsboro, TX, daughter; Robin Averett and husband Jimmy of Mineola, TX, sister; Patsy Brooks of Waco, TX, grandchildren; Lacy Guerrero and husband Ryan of San Jose, CA, Molly Jane Wagner and fiancé Ty Arnold of Midway, TX, Mitchell Joe Wagner of Winnsboro, TX, Lane Kennedy Averett of Mineola, TX, great grandchildren; Declan Guerrero, Rowan Guerrero, Quinn Guerrero, nephews; Kevin Brooks of San Angelo, TX, Blake Brooks of Georgetown, TX.
Lou was a long-time resident of Mineola, TX. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mineola. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing tennis and playing bridge. She graduated from Baylor in 1960 and then went on to receive her master’s degree from East Texas State in the early 70’s. Lou retired from Mineola Independent School District in 1996. She was awarded teacher of the year, women of the year, and was the first female member and chairperson of the Meredith Foundation and a member of Mineola City Council, member of the PEO, chapter CU.
In lieu of flowers family has asked to make donations to Mineola ISD Education Foundation or Caring Hearts Hospice.
