Obituary for Larry Dean Stephens

A big hearted man, Larry Dean Stephens, who was loved by many, closed his eyes on Earth, January 25, 2022, and opened them in Heaven that very moment. He was born to the late Charles William and Syble Faye (Hass) Stephens on February 1, 1947, in Pittsburg, Texas. He graduated from Winnsboro High in 1965. Larry was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and a retired Oil Field Foreman. He worked 19 years for Delhi Gas and Pipeline and 12 years for Chaparral Energy, Inc. . Really Mr. Stephens never retired. He loved working outdoors, tending the farm and raising cattle. Larry loved to research and study history of his family and the places near and around Winnsboro, Texas. He also enjoyed cooking and telling a great story. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and wife Jody Stephens (2017). Mr. Stephens is survived by his sons Ricky Stephens and wife Christine, Chad Stephens, and Terry Eastwood and wife Kaylee; brother Rickey Stephens and wife Snuckie, brother Terry Stephens and wife Maxanna; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Kelsea Ragatz for all her care that she gave Larry during his declining health. A memorial service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 30th in the chapel of Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro with Bro. Terry Bolton and Bro. Fred Morrow officiating. Honorary pallbearers Clint Barrett, Kenneth Snodgrass, Gary Spence, Seth Eastwood, Benny Cowser, Bernard Kerr, Dylan Soto and Brandon Soto. “You’ll never lose direction and you’ll know just where you are if you’ll always point your wagon tongue toward that ol’ North Star.”
