Obituary for Kathy Lynn French (French)

Kathy Lynn French went peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on July 7, 2020.

She was born on January 3, 1929, to Leonard Montgomery French and Viola Martin French Short. She was 91 years old and the last of her 16 siblings living until her death. She was the Matriarch of our family.

Lynn, as she was fondly known by, was raised on a farm in Coke community just outside of Winnsboro, Texas. As a young adult she moved to Dallas where she went to Beauty college and received her license as a professional hairdresser. She opened her own Beauty shop and continued as a hairdresser until about 8 years prior to her death. She was a lady of many talents. She played musical instruments, loved dancing, loved to travel, and was an avid gardener. She had such an incredible love for animals. Lynn would never ask anyone for help as she had a strong independence and determination about her to make it on her own. However, she would help her siblings anyway she could with their own children. She was like a second mom to her nieces and nephews. One of her nieces said, “She beautified so many people!” She was self-employed making her living baling hay, raising cattle, and had her own upholstery shop in addition to her own beauty shop. Such a hard-working special woman was our Lynn!

Kathy Lynn French is preceded in death by her loving parents, her brothers Lee Otis French of Sulphur Springs, Levohn French of Coke, and sister Joy Nelson of Greenville. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. We love her so dearly and will miss her greatly.

The family would like to thank her nephew, John Cecil Nelson, and the caregivers at 0ak Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Commerce, Texas for the wonderful and loving care she received the last few years of her life. The family will hold a private graveside service at Rock Hill Cemetery in Coke on September 18, 2020.

Rest In Peace, Lynn!
