Dr. Karl Reynolds James, age 83 of Winnsboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in Winnsboro. He was born on June 28, 1939 in England to the late Dr. Norman James and Maud Morris James.

Karl was a longtime Veterinarian in Winnsboro and a true renaissance man: a lover of world travel, an avid boater (he could be found most weekends at the lake on one of his hand built boats), a talented musician, a marathon runner, a cross country cyclist, a pilot, a fisherman and a motorcyclist.

Karl was known for his incredible kindness, always taking time to stop and talk to people (he never met a stranger).

Survivors include his loving wife of over 50 years, Eugenia Stewart James of Winnsboro; son, Norman James and his wife, Kelly of Wimberly; daughter, Marsha James-Ihrig and her husband, Joel of Sulphur Springs; brothers, Johann James of Winnsboro and Pietro "Pete" James and his wife Lynn of Clancy, Montana; six grandchildren, Miranda Stark and her husband Kyle of Phoenix, AZ, Randy Davis and his wife Julie of Duncan, SC, Sterling James of New Braunfels, TX, Kendal James of Austin TX, Jordan Ihrig of Miami, FL, and Alden Ihrig of Jacksonville, NC; two great grandchildren, Nathan Peebles and Daniel Davis of Duncan, SC; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 24, 2023 at Beaty Funeral Home 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Winnsboro Animal Shelter, 835 Hope Ln, Winnsboro, Texas 75494.
