Obituary for Jerry Wayne Cofer

Mr. Jerry Wayne Cofer, age 81 of Winnsboro, passed away, surrounded by family, on Friday, May 12, 2023, in Sulphur Springs. He was born on September 12, 1941, in Winnsboro, to Fred William Cofer and Verna French Cofer. Jerry attended school in Corsicana, where he played baseball. He moved back to Winnsboro as a young adult and married the love of his life, Candy Kay Cofer, on March 20, 1976.
Jerry worked as a Welder for many years at Amerada Hess, and was a member of Grace Fellowship Ministries. When not cheering for the Dallas Cowboys & Texas Rangers, working his garden, or fishing, he was bird hunting, putting puzzles together, collecting arrowheads, playing 42, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael Russom; brother, Charles Lee Cofer, and sister, Jolene Farmer.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kay Cofer of Winnsboro; sons, Tim Cofer and his wife Kim of Corsicana, and Koy Cofer and his wife, Kathy of Corsicana; daughters, Elaine Struthers and her husband, David of Collins, Iowa, Nicole Brooks and her husband, Frankie of Royse City, and Stephanie Toppings and her husband, John of Winnsboro; brother, Don Cofer and his wife, Judy of Corsicana; twenty adoring grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Beaty Funeral Home, 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Tommy Green and Bro. Larry Green conducting. Interment will be at Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro, with David Struthers, Frankie Brooks, John Toppings, Don Miller, Eddie Acord, Johnny Ziegler serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Fellowship Ministries.
