Obituary for Jeanne Dean

Jeanne Day Dean born may 23, 1928 in Dike, Texas to the late O.D. and Rosa Day. She moved to Delta County in 1930 and graduated from Klondike High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and mechanic in Cooper after graduation during WWII. She was employed by the Government Agency Office if Price and Administration with Rations Board and was a Teller and Bookkeeper for Cooper's First National Bank. After the birth of her three daughters she went into radio as a Commercial Director and Newswoman. She could be seen driving the KMOO Falcon thru the streets of Mineola any time she heard a siren. She was a Member of the Texas State Network and National Association of Broadcasters. She worked many years at the Mineola Monitor Newspaper. After 20 years in Broadcasting she worked in Real Estate until ill health caused her retirement in 1994. She lived the rest of her days content with a pack of cigarettes, a good book, and her dog, Winnie. She never wanted to hurt anyone's feelings or cause anyone trouble.
She was a member of Wood County Board of Realtors and T.R.E.C. during her career years as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Pilot Club, was one of the original starters of the Mineola Civic Center, Honorary Member of the Sheriff's Dept. and Mineola Optimist Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dean, four sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include daughters and son's-in-law; Cindy and Tony Bell of Dallas, Texas, Rosemary and James Prescott of Saginaw, Texas, Joni and Jim Taylor of Tyler, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Phylis Day of Garland and Dorthy Day of Cooper, Texas.
