Obituary for James Hershel Rogers

Mr. James Hershel Rogers, age 77 of Winnsboro, passed away, surrounded by his family, Friday, September 9, 2022, in Tyler. He was born on July 25, 1945, in Winnsboro to the late Hershel Harlan Rogers and Eunice Mae Hill Rogers.
James served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was an Instrument Tech having worked for Getty Oil, Texaco and retired with Chevron. James was a longtime member of Pine Street Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking and collecting antique cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Dana Michelle Marshall and great granddaughters, Jillian Kay Peoples and Penelope Amerson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years Paula Rogers of Winnsboro; daughters, Holly Kersten and husband, Lance of Jacksonville, Jill Bernard and husband, Jim of Longview, Edie Newberry and husband, James of Winnsboro; brothers, Harry Rogers of New Diana and Frank Rogers and wife Vicky of Winnsboro; sister, Velma Owens of Galveston, grandchildren, Jett, Shane, Holly (Matt), Taylor (Wade), Greyson (Quala), Gunner (Hope), Gavin, Peyton, Kelby, Kirby, Karli, Lance, and Tara; great grandchildren, Grace, Matthew, Bailey, Colton, Callie, EverLee, Annastyn, Anthony, Keylan, Camryn, Charlotte, Wrenlee, and Wesley.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, 2:00pm, September 12, 2022 at Beaty Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Ethridge and Rev. Mike Jeters officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Cemetery in Winnsboro, with Jett Jenkins, Greyson Amerson, Gunner Amerson, Gavin Amerson, Peyton Ferguson, Kelby Galloway, Lance Newberry serving as pallbearers.
