Obituary for Colby Gibson

Beloved son, brother, uncle and friend to everyone who knew him, Jacob Colby Gibson age 38, released his spirit unto heaven on December 7, 2020. He blessed this world when he was born on November 23, 1982 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Benny Charles and Carol Cyne (Casey) Gibson. At a young age, Colby overcame cancer with the support and love of the Winnsboro community which rallied behind him. Winnsboro would always have a deep affection for this young man. He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church and a 2002 graduate of Winnsboro High. Colby worked for 6 years at Brookshires and made friends with everyone while assisting in their needs. He loved good music, which included rock and the classic country music, never any of that new stuff. Colby was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and had a great fondness for the Cowboy cheerleaders. He was also an avid Skip Bo player. A big part of our heart is missing, however, his family finds comfort in knowing he is whole and unburdened with Jesus. Colby was preceded in death by his father Benny Charles Gibson; paternal grandparents Maurice and Charlene Gibson; maternal grandparents Harold and Delores Casey. He is survived by his mother and step-father Carol Gibson Russell and Mark Russell; sister Becky Morris and husband Andrew, sister Crystal Chandler and husband Joe; nieces Hayley Morris and Cameron Chandler; nephews Noah Morris and Jack Chandler. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Harmony Cemetery in Hopkins County on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Charles Ethridge and Bro. Kyle Ray.
