Obituary for Herman p Gresham

Born in the Fort Worth area on January 31, 1912, Mr. Gresham was the oldest of five children. Following his graduation from Diamond Hill High School in Fort Worth, he attended the North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington (now The University of Texas at Arlington) as well as the Brantley Draughn Business College. Mr. Gresham, a veteran of the U.S. Army, began his career as a retail merchant in Mineola, Texas during the early 1940s and was owner of the local Western Auto store for more than 35 years. Always an honest and hard working person, Mr. Gresham was very active in community organizations and events, serving several years on the Mineola City Council in addition to several years as the Deacon of Finance for the Broad Street Church of Christ. He served from 1978 to 1980 as the Mayor of Mineola and during this time also received Mineola?s Man of the Year award. Following his retirement, Mr. Gresham, a man of many talents, served as a Director and Treasurer of the Mineola State Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.T. Gresham, his brother, Floyd, and his sisters, Ruby Nell and Katherine. He is survived by his wife, Frauline, his brother, Donald R. Gresham, his daughter, Jeanne Cain Pressler, his grandchildren, Amber and Andrew, and three great-grandchildren, K.C., Cory and Andria. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
