Obituary for Grace Lewis (Browning)

Grace Browning Lewis, of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away at the age of 94 in Sulphur Springs. Mrs. Lewis was born in Wood county and raised in the Cartwright and Pickton communities. Home for Grace and her family was wherever the best farming could be done. She was born on January 22, 1926 to Jewel Lee and Gladys Browning. Grace married William Everett Lewis and the two of them made Mesquite their home from 1951 to 1991. In 1991, she and Everett moved back to the Browning family farm in the Stout Community. Mrs. Lewis was a devoted wife, mother and daughter. She made sure to take care of her mom during her last few years. Grace volunteered at the church and enjoyed the activities of making stuffed animals for children in the hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; daughter, Laurie Kay Lewis; and brothers, Bill, Henry and James Browning. Grace is survived by her daughter, Teresa Tharp and husband Jim; daughter Susan Van Pelt and husband Gary; grandchildren Jennifer Johnston and Samuel Zachary Childers; and great-grandson Riker Childers. A visitation will be held at Beaty Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with the funeral beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite, Texas.
