Gordon Bergman, Jr. – dedicated husband, father of two, and friend to many – was called to his heavenly home by his Lord and Savior on December 28, 2022, at the age of 39.
JR, as he was affectionately known by many, was born February 10, 1983, in Groveton, Texas to Gordon Bergman, Sr. and Jeri Heron. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. JR enjoyed telling stories of his time while serving, especially that of the humanitarian relief efforts in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake & Tsunami. Despite the heartaches and tragedy that he witnessed during his years in the Marine Corps, JR was always incredibly proud to have been of service to his country.
JR married the love of his life and best friend, Lyssa Roden, in 2004, and remained so for the rest of his life. Of all the joys and blessings he experienced during his life, JR’s greatest blessings were his children: son, Tommy, and daughter, Drew. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he proudly and often mentioned.
JR is survived by his beloved wife, son, and daughter; his mother and father; brother, Rodney Bergman and family; sister, Jaime Bergman and family; brother-in-law, Marshall Roden and family; spiritual mother, Ann McKelroy; church family; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, and dear friends who will remember him fondly.
JR is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, mother-in-law, and father-in-law.
A memorial service to be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11 AM, at First Baptist Winnsboro Texas; Pastor David Rose officiating. Pallbearers will be close friends, Chad Smith, Caden Smith, and Lariat Emley, Jacob Hallman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests live plants.
