Obituary for George Barnette "Barney" Totten III
Mr. George Barnette "Barney" Totten, age 96, passed away at his home in Winnsboro on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. He was born on November 20, 1925 in Electra, Texas to the late Hartwell Thomas Sapp Totten and Dorothy Standly Totten.
Barney served in the US Navy during WWII from, 1943 to 1946 and briefly joined the Army in 1949. He was a retired operations Supervisor for Teledyne Exploration in Houston, Texas. He was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Veterans of Foreign Wars life member, National Rifle Association, Native American Relief Fund, Second Amendment Foundation and the Freedom Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mae Dale Totten in 2007; son, Gary Dwayne Totten, daughter, Laura Lee Cassady and sister, Ruie Totten.
Survivors include his son, George B. Totten IV of Riverside, California; grandchildren, Dwayne Totten, Damon Totten, Kimberly Totten, Natalie Wandfluh, Courtney Rorie, and Victoria Smith along with thirteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Beaty Funeral Home 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro, with Jacoby Smith, Deacon Smith, Kyle Barnett, Mike Cassady, Bob Bellamy, and Floyd Largent serving as pallbearers.
