Obituary for Frederick Scott

Funeral services for Frederick Thomas Scott, 78, of Hawkins, Texas, will be held
at 2:00 pm on Saturday August 27, 2022 at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola, Texas.
Viewing will be held before the service at 1:00 PM.
Private graveside will be held at a later date for the family.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday September 3, 2022 at
Lakeway Baptist Church, Humble, Texas.
Frederick Thomas Scott went on to be with the Lord on August 18, 2022 at his
home in Hawkins, Texas, after a courageous fight with cancer.
Frederick Thomas Scott, known as “Fred” was born September 28, 1943 in
Houston, Texas to Lonnie Buford Scott, and Katherine Marie Scott. Fred
had two brothers, a half brother, and two half sisters. He was raised on the north
side of Houston, in the Heights, then the Aldine area as a teenager. Fred attended
Aldine High and joined the United States Army at age 18. Fred served his country
well as a border guard and in a field artillery unit in West Germany. He was
honorably discharged in 1965. Fred worked as an electrician for Western Electric,
then served 25 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring as a first line
supervisor.
Fred married his wife, Mary, a beautiful young woman who he met at a local dance
in 1966. Fred became a Christian and a faithful member of Beacon Baptist Church
in Houston, and later served as a trustee at Lakeland Baptist and Lakeway Baptist
Churches in Humble, TX. Fred and Mary had two children, Angela and David. He
was blessed with a full life. In his later years he and Mary moved to Hawkins,
Texas and made many friends and loved ones in that area. He will be greatly
missed.
Frederick Thomas Scott is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Buford Scott of
Houston, TX, his mother Katherine Elizabeth Scott, brother Ronnie Scott, half-
brother, Lonnie Scott, half-sister Shirley Scott , half sister Joyce Baker, and sister
in law, Noma Scott.
Fred is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Rebecca Ward Scott, daughter,
Angela Steiner and husband Jeffery of Spring, TX, granddaughter Hanna
Woodward and husband Connor, son David Scott and wife Valerie of Roman
Forest, Texas, and granddaughter Emma Scott. Brother John Scott, brother in law
Gerald Ward and wife, Theresa. Sister in law Wilma Davis and husband, Edell.
Sister in law Alvana Scott. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family
and friends.
