Resting from his labors, Lewis Crone, 71, of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away on December 18, 2022. He was born on July 16, 1951, in Winnsboro, Texas to Edgar and Aletha (Gore) Crone. Lewis lived most of his life in the area. He had a work ethic like no other and enjoyed a good day’s hard work. Lewis enjoyed tending to his animals, was a green thumb extraordinaire in the vegetable garden, and simply was at peace soaking in God’s creation. Lewis built his own dairy from the ground up with the help of Wylie Crone. Mr. Crone was loved by his family and respected by his friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Lewis is survived by his wife of 32 years Laura Tucker Crone; son Adam Putnam; daughter Tracy Gwin and her husband David; granddaughter Mackenzie Putnam; brothers Bill Crone and wife Tommie, Troy Crone and wife Mary, and Mike Crone. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Aletha Crone; brothers Erban Crone and Charles Crone; and sister Ginger Gomez. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Bro. Michael Poole will officiate. Those who will serve as pallbearers will be David Gwin, Jason Donnell, Kenneth Cannon, Donnie Moss, Timmy Thompson, and Adam Putnam. Lewis will be laid to rest in Simpsonville Cemetery in Upshur County.
