Obituary for Charles Noel Douglas Harrison Jr.

Charles Noel Douglas Harrison Jr, of Gilmer, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at the age of 79. After several months of declining health, Charles, who went by the name Doug, died peacefully with family by his side.

Doug was born in Fort Worth, Texas on October 19th, 1943, to father Charles Noel Douglas Harrison, Sr, and mother Josephine Rose Hamilton Harrison. The middle child, and only boy, Doug spent much of his childhood with his two sisters tagging along to witness his great adventures and genuine flair for trouble making. At eighteen, Doug joined the military, serving his country in private sectors. After his return, he met and married his wife, Dorothy Joan Scott.

Together, they purchased a home and grew their family. He spent many years working as a mechanic for the coal mines in Winfield, TX, until becoming disabled. Doug loved company and had a talent for cooking and grilling. He loved to sit outside and grill food, offering his delicious steaks and burgers to anyone happening to pass by. There was never a dull moment with Doug, and he never told a boring story.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dorothy Harrison. He is survived by his sisters, Kennette Harrison and Stephanie Amon; children Angel Harrison, Noel Harrison, Heather Harrison, and Brandon Harrison; grandchildren Korianna Harrison, Kailee Harrison, Abigail Harrison, Landon Harrison, Aryanna Harrison, Dorothy Harrison, Charlie Harrison, Salem Hayes, and Elijah Hayes; and great-granddaughter Emmelyn Annadell.

“A special thanks to Caryn Welborn and Melanie Hogan for their kind care of Doug these past several years.”
