Obituary for Carl Stanley Talbert

Carl Stanley Talbert, age 94 of Winnsboro , passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at his home.
Carl was born January 12, 1926, in East Point to Ruth Mills and Curtis Talbert. On October 8, 1949, Carl married Thomasine Cathey in Quitman. Carl was retired from education having coached and taught in Winnsboro, Quitman, DeKalb, and Dallas Kimball High School. When Carl decided to leave coaching he became the elementary principal at Como-Pickton and returned to his home town as the principal at Winnsboro High School. 1944-1946, Carl served his country in the United States Army Air Forces and some of his most treasured memories were playing baseball starting in 1947 for the Winnsboro Oilers. In 1949, Carl received his Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State Teachers College and then received his Masters of Education in 1957. For 12 years Carl served Winnsboro as a member of the school board. In addition, Carl served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher at the Winnsboro church of Christ. Carl is survived by his wife of 71 years, Thomasine, one son, Tommy Carl Talbert (Sharon), two daughters Cathey Weaver and Kimberly Murley, one sister Kay Rose, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
