Boyd Dale Kuykendall, the son of R.C. Kuykendall and Clara Grey, passed away peacefully
March 2, 2023 at his home in Mineola. Boyd was born on 5 January, 1947 in Waco, Texas. At
the young age of 17 he joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from
the U.S. Army in 1967 he returned to Dallas and reunited with his family. Boyd met the love of
his life Sherry Darlene Pogue in 1968 and married that same year. He began a career as a roofer
when he and his brother started their own company. Boyd later retired from the Dallas
Independent School District in 2007.
Boyd loved baseball, fishing, playing pool and bingo. He utilized his talents building and
repairing anything he could get his hands on. A well-loved man, Boyd enjoyed meeting new
people and maintaining relationships with friends and family from childhood. Those who knew
Boyd, knew he was light hearted and often joked and pulled pranks bringing smiles and laughter
to so many.
Boyd was preceded in death by his parents R.C., Clara, and Edna, his wife Sherry, and his
brothers Jerry and Doyle. He is survived by his siblings, Rita, Janett, David and Donald, several
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Boyd will be lovingly remembered by his many, many family and friends. The memories of
happy times together with Boyd will be cherished for years to come. A celebration of life will be
held March 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Mineola Civic Ceneter followed by burial services at
Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery March 20, 2023 at 11:30 am.
