Obituary for Avis Louise Melvin Perry

Avis Louise Melvin of Mineola, Texas passed away October 9, 2007 at the age of 83. She was born August 27, 1924 to the late James Arthur Hearn and the late Duskie Vera (Holland) Hearn in Grand Saline, Texas. She has lived in Mineola for 55 plus years. She was past Activity Director at Pine Valley Nursing Home. Volunteer for American Red Cross during the Vietnam War. Worked as a Proof Reader for the Mineola Monitor. Volunteered for the USO during WWII. She attended public school in Creagleville and graduated from Grand Saline High School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick Melvin and two brothers, James Sydney Hearn and Robert Glenn Hearn. She is survived by son, Dick Melvin and wife Sharon of Tyler, Texas; two daughters, Chelia Steelman of Mineola, Texas and Cheryl Tucker and husband Michael of Golden, Texas; seven grandchildren, Miles Tucker, Molly Tucker Shelton, Misti O'Donnel, Ashley Blackwell, Lindsey Wilhite, Jaime Melvin, and Jessica Bray; and eight great grandchildren.
