Archie Rudolph Allen was born third of twelve children to James and Effie (Garrett) Allen in Grand Saline, Texas on May 19, 1924. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard during the second world war. After returning to Grand Saline he met Alice Gwendolyn Butler and they married August 3, 1947. They had three children: David, Linda and Lori. Archie was retired from Tyler Pipe and served his God, community and church for many years as a Deacon. All that knew him well remember him as "a great hugger". Archie went to his eternal reward while sleeping at his Mineola home during the early morning hours of Friday, February 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife Gwen, his parents, three grandsons, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by sister Lillian Butler of Grand Saline, brothers Lloyd and Elvis of Fruitvale and brother Charles of Longview. Also surviving are his children David Allen, Linda Hays, Lori Miller and their spouses, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren and devoted caregiver Carolyn Favors. "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted."
