Funeral services for Sara Belle Aten Ethridge of Winnsboro, will be held on Tuesday, August 7th at 2:00 pm in the Pine Street Baptist Church with Beaty Funeral Home assisting. Her death occurred on Saturday, August 4. Interment will be at the Brashear Cemetery.

Sara was born on January 11, 1939, in Texarkana, TX, to Marion Clark and Mary Dell Quinn Aten. She and twin sister, Flora, grew up in Texarkana, AR. At the age of thirteen, the twins moved to Tyler, TX, to live with their Uncle Onterio, Aunt Anna Belle Funderburgh, and their son Jimmy.

Sara graduated from Tyler Chapel Hill School in 1957, Tyler Junior College in 1959, and East Texas Baptist College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.

She met her husband, Charles Ethridge while attending college in Marshall, TX. They married on August 19, 1961.

Sara served with Charles in church ministry for almost 57 years, using her teacher training in the work of the church. Her love and passion was teaching nursery and preschool children. She was an active member of Pine Street Baptist Church for the past 40 years, being involved in the nursery/preschool ministry, the Seekers Sunday School Class, and Ladies Crafters.

She is survived by husband Charles Ethridge of Winnsboro; daughter Anna Shuman and husband Larry of Sanger; son Roger Ethridge and wife Chris of Rowlett; daughter Rena’ Bartlett of Bridgeport; son David Ramo and wife Cindy of Bryan; daughter-in-law Juleann Ethridge of Lindale; and sister Flora Edgar and husband Kenneth of Fair Play, SC.

Surviving also are grandchildren Lauren Luetchford and husband Phil; Scott and Jacob Shuman; Gabriel, Gideon, and Faith Ethridge; Caleb, Noah, and Ainsley Bartlett; Skyler Ethridge; and great-grandchildren Tinley Luetchford, Sierra Outlaw, and Brenden Ethridge; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Ronald Ethridge; Ont, Anna Belle, and Jimmy Funderburgh.

Memorial Donations may be given to the Pine Street Baptist Church Building Expansion Fund.
