Obituary for Curtis Lee Rhoades

Curtis Lee  Rhoades
Curtis Lee Rhoades, age 93 of Winnsboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 6th, 2018 at the V.A. Hospital in Dallas. He was born on August 16th, 1924 in Franklin County to the late Mack Rhoades and Grace Greenlee Rhoades. A US Army Veteran of World War II, Curtis received The Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal with one Bronze Service Star, The Good Conduct Medal, Two Purple Hearts, One Overseas Service Bar and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, having served as Commander of Post 340 for 5 years. He worked in the Insurance Business for many years. Curtis was one of the first members of Walnut Street Baptist Church, and served as a Deacon for more than 70 years as well as teaching Sunday School for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rusty; brothers, Truett, Milton and wife Mattie Lou (Burgin) Rhoades. Surviving family includes his wife, Florence Thomas Rhoades; children, Tom and Sharon Rhoades, Ginger Rhoades-Bundrant, Audena and Marshall Hosey, Deanna McCullah; grandchildren, Monique and Gary Ritter, Curtis and Ashley Bundrant, Heather and Coy Tennison, Bridget Hosey; six great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Williams; several nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 10th, 2018 also at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro at 3:00 pm, Bro. David Taylor and Bro. James Schafer officiating. Interment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Franklin County, Texas, with Wesley Carr, Charles Brewer, Charles Smedley, Joe Dan Moss, Juan Ramirez and Mel Mellenberger serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are members of American Legion Post 340.
