Mollie Minelle Middleton Stanton, age 78 of Winnsboro, departed peacefully from this earth for
her heavenly home on September 26, 2017 in Sulphur Springs. Mollie was born on April 29,
1939 in Beaumont, Texas to Jewel Ellington and Mary Louise Graham Middleton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, J.E. Middleton, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, David. She leaves behind one sister, Linda
Smith (David) of Azle. She leaves behind three daughters, Sherry Dupre Bridges (RT) of
Quitman, Charlotte Stanton of Winnsboro, and Stefanie Voelker (Kurt) of Plano; and one son,
Scott Stanton (Connie) of Garland. Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Megan
Dupre of Dallas, Daniel Stanton of Galveston, Gabriel, Olivia and Luke Voelker of Plano. Mollie
also has one niece Amanda Patton and two nephews, Tim (Tisha) and Michael Meador. Her
extended family includes Travis, Tracy, Kyndall, Kennedy and Bryce Dupre; Arienne, Aaron,
Alaina and Aaron Jacob Harvey; Tanya, Don, Jody and Josh Weems and Timmy Meador.
Mollie graduated from West Orange Stark High School and attended college at night while
pursuing a career as an executive secretary and bookkeeper. She and David owned and
operated several Charlies’ Hamburger Joints in Houston. She was also a Dairy Queen
franchisee, operating the DQ in Quitman for 12 years. Mollie and David were world travelers
cruising to over 110 countries and made many friends wherever they went.
Mollie loved her family, her church and her friends. She was an active member of Tinney
Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as Finance Chair and Treasurer, and was a
member of the choir and Women's Club. She also was active in the North East Texas Emmaus
Community and REC (Residents Encounter Christ) prison ministry.
The family would like to thank all who prayed, loved, and cared for Mollie during her long illness.
A Memorial Service for Mollie will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Tinney Chapel
United Methodist Church in Winnsboro with Rev. Dr. Chauncey Nealy and Rev. Duncan
Graham officiating at 11:00 am. A private Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens
in Mineola at a later date.
