Obituary for Bobby Don Shelton II

Bobby Don  Shelton II
Mr. Bobby Don Shelton II, age 48 of Gilmer, passed away on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 in Winnsboro,
Texas. He was born on August 17th, 1968 in Dallas, Texas to Leslie Lewton Farley and. Mr. Shelton worked as
a Critical Care Paramedic for over 25 years, serving Upshur County EMS, Good Shepherd Medical Center,
AMR, where he was also a chaplain, Champion EMS, and Hopkins County EMS. He was a Field Training
Officer In his most recent position with Hopkins County EMS.
He joined the Perryville Volunteer Fire Department in 1987. He was Asst. Chief from 1998-2000, 2002-
2010, and 2014-2017, Chief from 2000-2002, and Captain from 2011-2013. He was the Medical Officer
for 15 years. He saved countless lives throughout his career and touched several lives with his character
and fearless faith. The impact he made on his family, friends, and community will continue long after his
passing.
He was a beloved father to his six children and an adored Poppi to his seven grandchildren. He never
met a stranger and radiated God’s love to everyone. He was generous, caring, and full of life and
laughter. He was the epitome of “love thy neighbor” and most importantly, he knew Jesus and will
spend eternity with his Savior.
He is survived by his father, Bobby Shelton of Granbury; mother, Leslie Farley of Gilmer; sons, David
Santanello of New Orleans, Bobby Shelton III of Georgia, Kyle Shelton of Winnsboro, and Noah Shelton
of Winnsboro; daughters, Tina Pemberton of McKinney and Kathleen Woodard of Longview; sister,
Melanie Splawn of Gilmer; Aunt and Uncle, David and Sandra Lewton of Gilmer; grandchildren, Ian,
Bryar, Colt, Braxton, Brody, Riley and Hayden.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25th, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home-
Winnsboro 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 26th,
2017 at Enon Baptist Church at 2:00pm- 3063 FM 556 Gilmer, TX 75644 with Rev. Ray Thompson
conducting. A private burial service will follow at Enon Cemetery with Scarecrow Willis, Dee Daily,
Daniel Alexander, Terry Alexander, Brent Smith, Jeff Sanderson, Cody Woodard, and Ben Pemberton
serving as pallbearers.
It is not necessary to wear black as this is a celebration of Bobby’s life. Please feel free to wear whatever
colors you’d like.
