Bessie Rae  Wilson
Bessie Rae Wilson of Mineola, Texas departed this life on February 8, 2017 after a brief illness. She was born in Cisco, Texas to Frank and Faye Coats on October 27, 1919. She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Waymon Wilson. She is survived by her son Douglas Wilson and wife Bonnie of Spring, Texas; her son Bob Wilson of Mineola; her daughter Beth Shockey and husband Roy of Mineola; sister Loyce Sherrill of Bend, Oregon; brother-in-law Bill Wilson of Euless, Texas, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wilson graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas where she met and married Waymon in 1939. She was a career elementary school English teacher in the Dallas area before retiring to Mineola with her husband in 1976. She was an active member of the community serving as a volunteer at Kindness Kottage, the Mineola Library, and various other organizations. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mineola, a member and past regent of the Elizabeth Denton English Chapter of National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as being a member of Eastern Star.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 10, 2017, from 6 to 8 PM at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola, TX. Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Mineola with Dr. Mark Neeley officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Mineola.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations be made to First Baptist Church, Mineola.
