Obituary for Zella R. Humphreys (Shanks)
Zella Ruth Humphreys, 86 of Mineola, passed peacefully surrounded by family that loved her unconditionally, Friday, May 4, 2018 at Wood Memorial Nursing Center in Mineola. Zella was born December 15, 1931, the daughter of Arthur C. Shanks and Onnie N. Lancaster.
Zella was united in marriage to Robert Humphreys. They raised four children together.
Mrs. Humphreys was a hardworking woman, learning the importance of working at a young age. She worked and retired as a Seamstress for American Recreation.
Zella is survived by her sister, Florene Dollar; son, Robert Humphreys Jr.; daughters, Mary Polley and Trudy Simms; Twenty-Two Grandchildren, Fifty-Five Great-Grandchildren, and Twenty-FIve Great- Great Grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Humphreys; son, Donnie Humphreys; Daughter-in-law, Kim Humphreys; Son-in-law, Don Polley; Grandsons, Jackie Ted Rocoe and Ethan Polley, Parents, Arthur and Onnie Shanks; Brothers, Morris Shanks, Bo Shanks, Harold Shanks, and James Shanks; and sister, Mary Burge.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 7, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home- Mineola. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Beaty Funeral Home- Mineola, with her grandson Ronnie Polley officiating. Active pallbearers are Heith Crow, Toby Harle, Ross Harle, Michael Simms, Brian Humphreys, and Dylan Harle. Honorary pallbearers are John Crow.
Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Gardens in Mineola, TX.
