Obituary for Robert Reed "Bob" Owen

On January 29, 2011 we lost another one of the greatest generation.
A purple-heart veteran, Bob served the entire WWII in the U.S. Navy, mostly in the pacific. Upon discharge he attended Purdue University under the G.I. Bill; graduating with honors. He spent the next forty years in the corparete worlds of aviation, audio and video development and marketing.
He retired to East Texas lakeside living and contiued his hobbies of flying, hunting, auto restoration, custom gumsmithing, cabinet making and ham radio.
He had a warm spot in his heart for the Whispering Pines Church of the Nazarene and the Methodist Men's Bible Study Group, both of Hawkins.
Bob was a man of the world and had friends and associates scattered afar. With this in mind no formal memorial service is planned. Rather, March 5th has been chosen as a day for personal reflection. Just take a monment to recall his impact on each of us at your leisure.
Inurnment at the DFW National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Bob was preceded by his daughter Chrissy and his parents. He is survived by his wife Linda, children, Rob, Roger and Pam, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
We wish to thank Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler and Hospice of East Texas HomePlace for their loving support and care during his last days.
Our friends support and help during this period has been invaluable and unforgettable. Remembrances may be made to your favorite charity, or to the aboved mentioned.

Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me
And may there be no moaning at the bar
When I put out to sea
I hope to see my pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar

A.L. Tennyson
