Obituary for Leonard Leon Oglesby

Leonard Leon Oglesby, 93, of Mineola, TX passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Tyler, TX. He was born on Monday, September 12, 1921 in Garden Valley, TX to the late Doyle and Vallie Oglesby.
Leonard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mineola. He was the Mineola fire chief for twenty five years. Leonard was an avid baseball player and bowler and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed quail hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lucy Oglesby; brother, Treman Oglesby; sister, Geneva Brown; daughter, Cathy Oglesby.
He is survived by his daughters; Linda Dillard of Hideaway Lake, TX, Mary Lou Mayfield of Van, TX, Margie McDonald and husband Perry of Lindale, TX; seven grandchildren, Cathy Thompson, Debby Sevin, Jeff Maxfield, Lisa Maxfield Capel, Julie Kindle, Robert McDonald, Stephen McDonald; fourteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Beaty Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 1-2 PM followed by funeral service at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Bobbie Maltas and Rev. Rick Son. Internment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
